|Children’s Books Merit Grown-up Conversation, Part 2: Evaluating Picturebook Ar|
Event Type: Adult - Main Library|
Start Time: 7:00 PM
End Time: 8:00 PM
Not only are picturebooks usually a child’s first introduction to words and stories, but also their first introduction to art. Visual literacy is just as important to child development as traditional literacy; it is through those picturebook images that children really start to visualize stories and understand the world around us. Often those seemingly simple stories have layers of depth where the illustrations are married to the actual words on the page. This program offers adults the opportunity to learn and discuss what picturebooks have to offer both children and adults alike.Library: Fairfield Public Library
Part 1 covers the dual audience of children’s books, a brief history of picturebooks and an introduction to the language of the field.
Part 2 explores specific titles and art styles and offers means for fruitful discussion. Any and all adults are welcome to attend!
